As well as finding reels of old cine films that you've forgotten were there you might come across some of the above.
Slides were very popular in the 60's and 70's
As with cine, the family would gather around while curtains were drawn and the film/slide projector was set up.
Today most people do not own all this equipment and so they are stored away unseen, slowly fading and that's a pity.
Slides and negatives can be scanned for you to watch as a slideshow on your television or computer, or placed onto CD for printing at a later date.
LETS START WITH NEGS:
Most people are familiar with 35mm but for many years people have been taking pictures with all types of cameras, and film sizes.
We had large format mainly 5in x 4in which due to cost was mainly used by professionals
We had 620/120 colour/black and white (pictured above). 120 film was introduced in 1901 and is still being used by some photographers today
You might also come across 126/110 and disc film, although popular in their time the quality was never of a high standard.
They are mainly 35mm and some 126, usually in cardboard mounts and most were produced by Kodak with either
Kodachrome or Ektachrome written on them. Kodachrome was introduced in 1935 and the last version of the film stopped in 2009. Ektachrome started in 1942 and is still being produced today.
Should you find an unprocessed roll of Kodachrome ( processed paid ) in any form in your loft, there is nobody processing this anymore. The last roll was developed back in 2011 by Dwayne's Photo in Parsons,Kansas
Ektachrome, however is still being processed worldwide.
SO WHAT ARE YOUR CHOICES:
If you intend to have prints made from your originals we can scan them to cd
Our standard settings are
5 x 4 / 10 x 8 1200 dpi
120 film 2400 dpi
126/35mm 3200 dpi
110 4800 dpi
All these settings can be changed if you have a special requirement.
If you would like to view them on your television, we would create a dvd in the form of a slideshow with each picture showing on screen for around 10sec before dissolving into the next image. We can even place titles and background music if you wish.
The cost of both services would be around 80p for each scan. If you find any photographs that you'd would like to include they can be scanned at the same price.
